Booking Through Thursday 11

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme that I participate in :D

This week's question is..

When you travel, how many books do you bring with you? Has this changed since the arrival of ebooks?

Ha. Well, I over pack everything, especially books. You see, I never know what I am going to read next, because your mood has to match your book. You know what I mean? So I always end up taking way too many, and my suitcases always weigh a ton. I also have a huge purse and I usually stuff some in there as well. I don't really use ebooks because I don't have a kindle and I only read them on my laptop when I get them for free. However - I have considered getting a kindle or a nook specifically for traveling, but I don't know. I have this crazy need to buy the actual book. There is just something about having the physical copy in your hands.

Booking Through Thursday 10

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme that I participate in :D

This week's question is..

If you read series, do you ever find a series “jumping the shark?” How do you feel about that?
And, do you keep reading anyway?

Well, I read a lot of series. I mean, a LOT. Most of the times, I love all the books within the series, but sometimes I do find they sort of get away from themselves. I will usually keeping reading, at least the first book after the one I didn't like. Does that make sense?  If I enjoyed 1-3, and didn't like 4 - I would still give 5 a chance. But after that, I don't really waste my time.

What about you? Are there any series that you've just stopped reading?

Booking Through Thursday 9

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme that I participate in :D

This week's question is...
“I couldn’t sleep a wink, so I just read and read, day and night … it was there I began to divide books into day books and night books,” she went on. “Really, there are books meant for daytime reading and books that can be read only at night.”
- ‘The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Milan Kundera, p. 103.
Do you divide your books into day and night reads? How do you decide?

I don't really divide my books into day and right reads, but sometimes I reread books at night. I don't really know why, but I often go back to my favorite parts of my favorite books and reread them right before I go to sleep. It an odd habit, but I can't seem to break it.

Booking Through Thursday 8

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme that I participate in :D

This week's question is...

You’ve just dropped your favorite, out-of-print book into a bathtub, ruining it completely … What do you do now?

Well, I would begin with crying my eyes out. Then, I would scour the web for one. If that didn't work, well, I guess I would call all of the little indie used bookstores around town. Then, if that failed, I would resort back to crying again.

Booking Through Thursday 7

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme that I participate in :D

This week's question is...

Even though it’s usually a mistake (grin) … do movies made out of books make you want to read the original?
Yes, If I see a movie that I find interesting that was based on a book, I do feel the need to read it. I have discovered some of my favorite books that that way. I first saw the movie of The Virgin Suicides and The Private Lives of Pippa Lee; and both movie led me to the books. However, if I see a trailer or advertisement for a movie that I know is a book, I try and read the book first. Because, as you all are aware, the book is rarely as good as the movie. I would never had read some books, like Twilight or Percy Jackson if I had seen the movie first.

Booking Through Thursday #5

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme. Today's question is..

Have your reading choices changed over the years? Or pretty much stayed the same? (And yes, from childhood to adulthood we usually read different things, but some people stick to basically the same kind of book their entire lives, so…)

Oh, yes my reading tastes have changed over the years. When I was a child I read mostly young adult lit and sometimes contemporary literature; but never science fiction or straight fantasy. As I got older, I progressed into young adult fantasy. Only recently did I branch out to Adult Urban Fantasy and Science Fiction. In fact, my first Adult Urban Fantasy book was Spider's Bite by Jennifer Estep.

Booking Through Thursday 4

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme. Today's question is..

What is the first book you remember reading? What about the first that made you really love reading?

That is a difficult question, I don't really remember. I remember reading a lot of books when I was little, but I cannot name a particular title as "my first". My favorite book when I was really little was Wacky Wednesday by Doctor Seuss, so that may very well have been my first book. But, I am not 100% sure. So, I will just name a few books that I remember reading when I was young - The Boxcar children books, The Avalon: Web of Magic Books and the occasional Nancy Drew Novel. I remember reading these because I loved adventure books. I don't remember much about any of them now, but I was in love with them.

Can you remember you first read?

Booking Through Thursday 3

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme.

Which fictional character (or group of characters) would you like to spend a day at the beach with? Why would he/she/they make good beach buddies?

What a great question! This definitely requires a lot of thought. I am going to just pick one though - Sookie Stackhouse from the Sookie Stackhouse Novels by Charlaine Harris. Why? Because Sookie is alot of fun, down to earth and completely awesome. She is open minded and runs with some pretty cool and interesting people. I think a day at the beach with Sookie would be entertaining and rather eventful. We would probably meet up with some shifters and/or weres, maybe some fearies and possibly some witches; no vamps though, unless this included a night time bon fire or something! That would be quite a day.

Who would you pick?

Booking Through Thursday 2

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme hosted at Booking Through Thursday.

Question: Do you ever listen to book-related podcasts? If so, which ones and why? (Include the URLs for people who aren’t familiar with them.) Or, of course, there’s the flip side … did you even know that such a thing existed? (I ask because I know a lot of people who have no idea what a podcast is.)

Well, I used to listen to the New York Times Book Review; but I don't really anymore. They never really talked about my genre of books, so I lost interested rather quickly. I would listen to book podcasts, though! Does anyone know of any podcasts features young adult, urban fantasy or paranormal romance titles? If so please post in the comments section! I would love to hear them!

Booking Through Thursday

Question of the Week: So … when you think about “hot reading,” what does that make you think of? Beach reading? Steamy romances? Books that take place in hot climates? Or cold ones?

I don't know about the rest of you, but when I think of "hot reading" I think of books that you see everywhere. Books that it seems everyone is reading and you can't escape. For example, books like twilight, or maybe the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
