Tune In Tuesday: Soundtrack Edition Vol 4

Tune in Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Ginger at GReads. For the month of October the theme is Soundtracks. I've decided to go the all encompassing route and include songs that are featured in movies, TV shows and of course, musicals.

It's the last week of the Soundtrack Edition of Tune in Tuesday. I apologize in advance for all the songs I've got this week.... I want to fit them all in :) So, please just bare with me. It's going to be epic. Trust me.

Tune in Tuesday: Soundtrack Edition Vol 1

Stand by Me - Ben E. King (Stand By Me)

Favorite Line:  I won't cry, I won't cry, no I won't shed a tear - Just as long as you stand, stand by me

I want to share something with you guys. I am one of those people who cry during movies. The waterworks come on regularly - it honestly doesn't take much to get me going. That being said, if Stand By Me doesn't tug at your heartstrings... you have a heart of stone. Just talking about it is breaking my heart a little bit right now. I LOVE that movie. I think it is one of those rare stories that everyone can relate to. Every time I here the song, I think of the boys, and it puts me in one of those nostalgic moods.

I Hurt Too - Katie Herzig (Bones)
Favorite Line:  When an ocean sits right between us, there is no sign that we’ll ever cross. You should know now that I feel the loss.

If you watch Bones, than you probably remember the scene in which this song was played. Brennan buries the dog, Ripley she was going to adopt (Season 4, episode 4). She breaks down and Booth gives her a great big old hug. I have been a fan of Katie for awhile, but this song and this scene sealed the deal for me. It just is perfect.

Between the Bars - Elliott Smith (Good Will Hunting)

Favorite Line:  Drink up one more time and I'll make you mine. Keep you apart, deep in my heart.Separate from the rest, where I like you the best. And keep the things you forgot.
I still miss Elliott Smith. It is really such a shame what happened to him, but his music will live on forever. For me, Between the Bars was my first introduction to him. I forget how I stumbled upon it, but I know it was back when I was around 14 or 15. There is just something so haunting and perfect about it;it just sort of seeps into your bones. Now, years later, I still listen to it on a regular basis. Everybody has done a cover of this song at some point, but Elliott's is still my favorite. Although, Madeline Peyroux's cover is pretty amazing.

Everybody Wants to Rule the World - Tears For Fears (Real Genius)

Favorite Line:  All for freedom and for pleasure, nothing ever lasts forever. Everybody wants to rule the world
You know, I remember watching this movie as a kid, but then I forgot about it. The only thing I could remember was that there was a scene where a guy took a roller coaster ride in a closet. Every time I brought it up to my dad, he told me I was crazy. Then, I fell in love with Val Kilmer (I blame that on the Saint) and I decided to watch all of his movies. Which brought me back to Real Genius. And can I just say that I am so glad I found it again. I was reacquainted with it during middle school and I used to make all my friends watch it. I am very proud to say that I made a ton of 12 year old girls fall in love with a teenage Kilmer.  Oh, and I really, really, really hope that I can find the scene in the movie that has this song. It's the popcorn part. Need I say more? I think not.

Magic Man - Heart (The Virgin Suicides

Favorite Line: Cold late night so long ago, when I was not so strong you know. A pretty man came to me - never seen eyes so blue. I could not run away, it seemed we'd seen each other in a dream. It seemed like he knew me, he looked right through me.

I have such a soft spot for Heart. And this movie. And the book. I don't really know what else to say about it. Have you guys seen the movie before? The entire soundtrack is amazing. AIR does the official soundtrack/score (which is amazing), but there is also a great collection of songs featured in the movie. Like.. Magic Man :)

You Don't Own Me - Lesley Gore (First Wives Club)
Favorite Line: I'm young and I love to be young. I'm free and I love to be free. To live my life the way I want. To say and do whatever I please

Best movie EVER. Diane Lane, Bette Midler and Goldie Hawn? How could you not love it. Plus, this scene is just amazing. and BTW, this is my jam. I blast this one in the car on a regular basis.

Friends - Band of Skulls (New Moon)

Favorite Line: But every Friday just about midnight, all my problems seem to disappear. Everyone that I miss when I'm distant; Everybody's here.

I don't care if you like Twilight or not, you will LOVE the soundtracks. I am honestly not a huge fan of the movies, but I own every single soundtrack. And Band of Skulls? Come on now, they are great. This is played when Bella goes to get on the motorcycle with that creeper. The song just fits that scene.

Lose Yourself - Eminem (8 Mile)

Favorite Line: The soul's escaping, through this hole that is gaping. This world is mine for the taking - Make me king.

So, I may not be from Detroit, but I am from Michigan. And I have loved Eminem since I was a pimply little preteen. I remember listening to him with all my little suburban friends in 7th grade. Good times. His music will forever remind me of those awkward middle school dances. All of the girls just stood in a circle and did that little head-bob move. While belting out the lines of course. Who am I kidding, I still belt it out. I mean, honestly. How can you not love him? Even if you don't like rap music, you have to admit  he is extremely talented. The way he sets up his rhymes. It's just crazy.

Melt With You - Modern English (Valley Girl)

Favorite Line: I saw the world crashing all around your face. Never really knowing it was always mesh and lace

Long before Melt With You was ever on any chocolate commercials, it was Randy & Julie's song. Valley Girl was one of those movies we used to watch at Sleepovers in middle school - it's pure bubblegum fun. It's one of the only movies in which I actually like Nicholas Cage. Go figure. But seriously, isn't it a fun movie? I love Julie's parents. Gotta love the hippies.

Hazy - Rosi Golan & William Fitzsimmons (Dollhouse)

Favorite Line: What if I fall and hurt myself? Would you know how to fix me?

I love both Rosi Golan & William Fitzsimmons, so when I heard this I instantly fell in love. Its incredibly simply, but incredibly beautiful. And I LOVED Dollhouse. Why did they cancel it? They always cancel the good shows...

Invincible - Pat Benatar (The Legend of Billie Jean)

Favorite Line: This shattered dream you cannot justify. We're gonna scream until we're satisified. What are we running for? We've got the right to be angry.

Oh, hell yes. When I was in Elementary School, I owned my very own copy of Pat Benatar's Greatest Hits. This was one of my favorites :) I finally saw the movie a few years ago.. and wowzers. It's definitely memorable.

Father & Daughter - Paul Simon (The Wild Thornberry's Movie)

Favorite Line: There could never be a father who loved his daughter more than I love you

I love you daddy :)

In The Air Tonight - Phil Collins (Risky Business)

Favorite Line: Well I remember. I remember, don't worry. How could I ever forget?
Oh the train scene. You all know it. I LOVE this song guys. And when the drums kick in? Oh, goodness. It's got to be the best drum solo of all time.

Shake Your Tail Feather - Nelly, Diddy & Murphy Lee (Bad Boys II)

Favorite Line: Your body is banging mama. But where your brains at?

You cannot deny this song. I'm sorry. You just can't. It's absolutely infectious.

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen (Wayne's World)

Favorite Line: So you think you can stop me and spit in my eye? So you think you can love me and leave to die?

I don't even know what to say. Freddie Mercury, I love you.

And Then He Kissed Me - The Crystals (Adventure's In Babysitting)

Favorite Line: I didn't know just what to do, so I whispered I love you.

Didn't I tell you a few weeks ago that this movie had the best music. Well it's true. I remember watching this when I was little and totally identifying with Elisabeth Shue. I mean, what girl doesn't act like this. I still do.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow - Judy Garland (The Wizard of Oz)
Favorite Line: Some day I'll wish upon a star, and wake up where the clouds are far behind me. Where troubles melt like lemondrops. Oh way above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me.
Who doesn't love this one? It's a classic.

Stand By Me is a movie I grew up watching with my sisters. It was probably so inappropriate, but we loved it. River Phoenix at his best!

I love Stand By Me (though I haven't seen the film) & I Hurt Too. I haven't seen the Virgin Suicides either but I've been meaning to read the book for I don't know how long. And I LOVE the Twilight soundtracks! They're the best part of the movies. I almost played Bohemian Rhapsody from Waynes World as well but changed my mind at the last minute.

Great picks! :)

Good thing my computer screen was the only witness! Also, the Twilight movie soundtracks are AMAZING! All your other choices were so great too :)
