Top 10 Tuesday: Books You Want Made Into Movies

Today's theme is Top Ten Books You Want Made Into Movies

Anyways, Here is my top 10 list - in no particular order; it was hard enough narrowing it down to 10, I could never actually rank them :)
1. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins [MY REVIEW]

This is such a cute story and I think it could be a beautiful movie - I mean come on, Anna is obsessed with film and it takes place in Paris!

2. The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong [MY REVIEW]

I LOVE this series and I would love to see it make the leap to the big screen. It's got drama, action, excitement and everything you could want in a movie :)

3. Angelfire - Courtney Allison Moulton [MY REVIEW]

An Angelfire movie would be AMAZING. You know I am right!

4. Moon Called - Patricia Briggs

Mercy is one of my favorite heroines of all time and I feel like these books would transfer perfectly into movies. There is so much going on in them and Mercy's world would be fun to see.

5. Graceling - Kristin Cashore

I think if they did this right, it could be awesome. Hopefully they won't pull an Eragon and make it all cutesy and cheesy.

6. Anna Dressed in Blood - Kendare Blake

I know this hasn't been released yet, I haven't even posted my review, but it really made an impression on me. Trust me, it would be a kickass movie!

7. Hollowland - Amanda Hocking [MY REVIEW]

I would so go see this zombie movie :) It would have a zombie killing lion in it!

8. Delirium - Lauren Oliver [MY REVIEW]

Umm... yes! Please?!
9. Touched By An Alien - Gini Koch [MY REVIEW]

Alright, action? check. Awesome, hilarious heroine? check. Tons of male eye candy? double check.

10. The Mockingbirds - Daisy Whitney [MY REVIEW]

I love this storyline and again, if they did it right it would be awesome.

Top Ten Tuesday: Dynamic Duos

Today's theme is Top Ten Dynamic Duos (those bffs, partners in crimes, or powerful couples that you just can't forget about)

This reminds me of a post I did a while ago - My Top 5 Potential BFF's in Speculative Fiction... there are certainly some crossovers :)

Anyways, Here is my top 10 list - in no particular order; it was hard enough narrowing it down to 10, I could never actually rank them :)

1. Lizzie & Darcy (Pride & Prejudice - Jane Austen)

Oh, come on. Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy are, without a doubt, the most famous couple (well, besides Romeo + Juliet - who I find much too depressing) in history. Everyone knows who these two are. They are so perfect together, it just about makes me sick :)

2. Chloe & Derek (The Darkest Powers Trilogy - Kelley Armstrong)

Chloe Saunders & Derek Souza are one of my favorite couples of all time. I have a confession, I totally reread a bunch of their scenes all the time. I have my favorites - I particularly love when they get stranded at the bus stop in The Awakening. Oh and I know I went crazy with the images, but I couldn't pick just one. You can click on the images for a bigger picture :)

I kind of commandeered these drawings from fanpop - I don't know where the first one came from originally, but the second was done by Anne-Marie @ Sweetnpepper.blogspot.com
The last two are by Bianca Siercke.

3. Shane & Claire / Shane, Claire, Michael & Eve (The Morganville Vampires - Rachel Caine)

Claire and Shane, Shane and Claire... oh how I love them together. They bring out such wonderful parts of each other and they actually stay together - shocking I know! They aren't petty or childish with their relationship and they are just so much fun. Now, I also have to give a shout out to the group as a whole - Claire, Shane, Michael and Eve. I know they aren't really a dynamic duo.. but their friendship is just so awesome. They have been through a lot together and they are always there for one another.

4. Gin & Finn (Elemental Assassin Series - Jennifer Estep)

So, I am all for the Gin + Owen pairing, but Gin and Finn the dynamic duo of the series. They are truly partners in crime and siblings at heart. They would do absolutely anything for one another, no matter the cost. I freaking love them and if anything ever happens to jeopardize their relationship, I may just die. Well, I won't die, but you better believe I will bawl my eyes out.

5. Chess & Terrible (Downside Ghosts - Stacia Kane)

I don't think you understand just how much I love these two together. They are both so flawed and jaded, but together they just work. They both have versions of themselves that you only see when they are together - Chess becomes a sap and Terrible is just so sweet :)

6. Jeff & Kitty (Katherine "Kitty" Katt Series - Gini Koch)

I don't really have to explain this to you, do I? I mean Jeff & Kitty are just pure awesomeness. I love their chemistry and their banter - I could read Jeff & Kitty books all day long.

7. Anna & St. Clair (Anna and the French Kiss - Stephanie Perkins)

they are perfect. End of story :)

8. Annabeth & Percy (Percy Jackson series - Rick Riordan)

Annabeth and Percy are the perfect friends - they balance each other out beautifully. Where he is impulsive and passionate, she is calculating and collected. They depend on and trust one another and get each other out of the worst scrapes.

9. Harry, Hermione & Ron (Harry Potter - J.K. Rowling)

Alright, I know, they are not a duo. So sue me. How could you have any sort of friendship list without these three? I am not even going to try and justify this one - it's a given.

10. Scout & Lily (Dark Elite series - Chloe Neill)

Scout and Lily will be BFF's forever - at least I hope so. The are always their for one another and they trust each other explicitly. They have a great friendship; they are always bantering back and forth and making each other smile. I wish I could be friends with these two :)

My Top 5 Potential BFF’s in Speculative Fiction

When I read a book it is very important for me to be able to connect with and enjoy the characters. Most of the time we get swept away in the romance portion of books, but I also love the friendship aspects of stories. So, I thought it would be fun to take a look at some of my favorite female characters in speculative fiction and see who I think would make a great BFF (Best Friend Forever). These awesome ladies were chosen for a variety of reasons - but they are all fabulous in their own ways. I did not put them in any order, because I don't think I would be able to :)  So, without further ado - here are my Top 5 BFF choices:

Katherine “Kitty” Katt
(Gini Koch’s Alien Series)
Kitty Katt is the ideal BFF. She has excellent taste in music and certainly knows how to keep it real. She is one tough chick, but has a soft side as well. She is very protective of those close to her and will stop at nothing to do the right thing. She is incredibly snarky and has no problem speaking her mind. Plus, she knows tons of absolutely gorgeous men. She could certainly make a few introductions :)

Claire Danvers
(Rachel Caine’s Morganville Vampire Series)
Claire is the perfect BFF candidate. She is funny, loyal and rather easy going. She is a people person – she chooses to see the best in people (ummm.. Myrnin anyone?).  She is a huge geek and would totally accept and support my book obsession. Plus, if something were even to happen to you, little miss Claire would come in with guns blazing. Home girl has taken out a few vampires with nothing but a measly pencil. She can be on my team anytime. Maybe she would let me use her Vampire Pepper Spray gun sometime – you know it’s awesome.

Millicent "Scout" Green
(Chloe Neill’s The Dark Elite Series)
Oh Scout, I love you so. I think that Ms. Green and I would get along swimmingly. She is certainly quirky, slightly geeky and dances to the beat of her own drum. Not to mention she is kind of a superhero. Scout is a total badass when it comes to her adept skills and she always has Lily’s back (whether they are dealing with stuck up classmates or crazed monsters in the underground tunnels of Chicago).

Alexia Maccon
(Gail Carriger’s Parasol Protectorate Series)
Alexia Maccon is blunt and to the point. If she thinks you look ugly in something, she will certainly let you know (just ask Ivy). This, is a quality I value in friends – I would rather them tell me, than walk around looking like a loon. You would never be bored in her company; she is always surrounded by a rather lively (in some sense) crowd. Lady Maccon certainly keeps things interesting. Unlike me, she keeps her head when everything hits the fan. It’s always nice to have some sane person around when a crisis hits. Plus, she has no problem showing her love for food – you would never need to be self conscious in her company. I would introduce her to two of my best friends – Ben & Jerry!

Hermione Granger
(J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter)
How could I not include the one and only Ms. Granger? Honestly, how many times does Hermione save Harry and Ron’s asses? She is a loyal friend and even goes against the rules for her boys (*this is a VERY big deal for her). She is quick on her feet, extremely caring and an AMAZING witch. I think she would be the best person to help get you out of a jam – she always has a plan.

What do you think of my list? I had a difficult time narrowing it down, but I am pretty happy with it. Do you think I missed someone? Who would you place on your list?

Top 10 Literary Crushes

So, there have been a couple of different posts around the blogosphere about Top 10 Literary Crushes. Kristi at the Story Siren, Jill at Random Ramblings and Lost in a Book all posted their Top 10 Lists. So, I thought it would be fun to post my version. Without further ado and in no particular order - my Top 10 Literary Crushes.

Edward Cullen (Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer)

So Here's the thing. I am completely 100% Team Edward in the books. I have loved his character from the get-go and he is easily one of my top 10 literary crushes. However, in the movies - I am strictly Team Jacob. I just swoon whenever he comes on the screen.. at least in New Moon and Eclipse.. in Twilight, not so much. That long wig was not doing it for me. I practically squeak during that scene in New Moon when you see him in the rain. Oh but anyways, this is about Edward. Yes, he is controlling and often manipulative, and I certainly wouldn't let my hypothetical daughter date him, but alas, I am utterly in love with him.

Stephen Colley (I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith)

I Capture the Castle is one of my favorite books ever and Stephen is one of my favorite male characters. He is extremely loyal, kind and head-over-heals in love with Cassandra. I just want to reach into the book and knock some sense into her, by force if necessary. Stephen can devote himself to me anytime he pleases. I would by more than happy to oblige him.

Tristran Thorn (Stardust by Neil Gaiman)

Tristran Thron is not your typical leading man. He's a fumbling, bumbling little boy. At least he starts that way. Which is a sure fire way to win this girls heart. Over the course of the book he turns into a sword wielding, butt-kicing hero and King. He's an honest and sensitive character who believes in true love and conquers everything to obtain it.
Dexter Jones (This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen)

Oh Dexter, how I love you. I fell in love with Dexter when I was 14. That's when I first read This Lullaby, and I was certain that my future husband would embody him perfectly. He is what I would call imperfectly perfect. He is lanky, messy, chaotic, unorganized and a total klutz. However, he is also sensitive, intuitive, loving and the owner of an adorable dog. He is also in a band, which never hurts.

Harry De Vries (She Walks in Beauty by Siri Mitchell)

Harry De Vries is just simply scrumptious. He is dashing, respectful, honest, hilarious and sensitive. He aspires to be an art collector and doesn't buy into the 1890's society stigmas. He's a rebel, but a completely harmless one. The man can also dance with the best of them. Oh, and he gets flustered in some situations - there is a completely adorable scene in which he calls on Clara and keeps accidentally running into things. Homeboy can call on my anytime..

Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy (Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen)

Did you think I would forget the infamous Mr. Darcy? Certainly not. Mr. Darcy is one of the original "bad boys", he is all super tough and crabby on the outside, but really he just needs to be loved. He starts off acting like a jerk, but you soon see that deep down he really is a kind, loyal and devoted man. Basically every girl on the planet loves Mr. Darcy, he is the classic heartthrob.

Adam Hauptman (Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs)

I love, love, love Adam. Sure, he's over protective and prone to overreact, but he is also loyal, loving and sexy as hell. He loves Mercy with every fiber of his being; and tries desperately to give her the space she needs. He is the pack Alpha and takes a lot of crap for being with her, since she is not technically a werewolf. Adam is a man who knows what he wants and goes after it with all guns blazing.

Sam Temple (Gone Series by Michael Grant)

So, I have only read the first book in this series so far, but I can tell you this - I am desperately in love with Sam. He is calm in high stress situations, which is a huge plus, since lets just say, I do not cope well under stress. He is very protective of his lady friend, Astrid, which I also find charming. He is honest, loves is mama and can shoot laser beams out of his hands. What more can a girl ask for? If only he was a little bit older... and real for that matter.
Percy Jackson (Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan)
Percy is a fabulous character. He is an unlikely hero, which you can see from my above choices, means I am quick to love him. He is often idiotically brave and extremely loyal to his friends. He can be quick to temper, but always does what is right in the end. He is also definitely a Mama's boy - which is extremely endearing. Plus, he is the son of the Greek god Posiden and can control the sea, and coincidentally, talk to awesome creatures like sea horses and mermaids, which makes him awesome in my book.
Aragorn (The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien)

I should not have to explain this choice at all. Everyone should just expect Aragorn to be on this list. He is a total rebel badass. He is a ridiculously awesome fighter and a fearless leader with a take no crap attitude. Oh yeah, and he wins to love of a kick-butt Elf and just happens turn out to be the King. How can you go wrong with a guy like that? Aragorn is the man.
