In My Mailbox {044}

This Week At That Bookish Girl:

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren
So, I had a rather eventful week around here. I had an extremely busy week at school and work and I had to absolutely squeeze in any reading I could get. I did get some rather interesting book related things this week, though.

On Tuesday night I went to a book signing for Mike Mullin (author of the wonderful Ashfall). It's was easily one of the more memorable signings I've ever been to. Check out my souvenirs.

Yes, dearies. That is a piece of signed concrete... which I stubbed my toe on while taking this picture. You see, the main character, Alex, is a black belt. So, for research purposes Mike became a black belt as well. That's dedication my friends. Anyways, the lovely people at Schulers Books & Music let him break some concrete blocks in the store. I must say, I loved seeing people spy over the bookshelves at him while he screamed at the poor blocks. Anyways, we made a collective decision that the concrete pieces would make excellent bookends. Oh, and I got my book signed as well :)

I also recieved two books I've already read - The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting and Shadow Hills by Anastasia Hopcus. I bought them on amazon for $4 each. I have to admit, I love amazon. I found them both used listed for $0.01 each ($3.99 shipping). You just cannot beat that folks.

Then, yesterday I came home from running errands and found that my package from Sara Wilson Etienne arrived. I had featured her upcoming book Harbinger on my WOW a few weeks ago and she contacted me about reviewing an arc. I, obviously jumped at the opportunity and she sent off a package. Honestly, this is one of my favorite ARC packages I've ever received.  Look at the little goodies sent with it.

The ARC came with a Harbinger lanyard, a Holbrook Academy brochure and what looks like a voodoo doll. I don't know for sure - I haven't read the book, but that is certainly what it looks like to me. Isn't that great? I cannot wait to dive into this one.
So that was my loot this week. What did you guys get?

Yay! Glad you liked the Harbinger package:) If you go to the website on the back of the plush doll (I'm not gonna give away what it is;) you can use the username and password to see a locked piece of Harbinger-inspired artwork:) It'll go public this Thursday and another locked illustration will appear:) You can go to https://www.facebook.com/holbrookacademy to get the next password this Thursday. And the next... and the next!

Oh and fun fact... Mike Mullin and I knew each other growing up in Indiana! Can't WAIT to read Ashfall!

Whoa, great haul there, chica! Harbinger looks interesting, and the event you were at sounds really cool. I love that the author did all that to immerse himself in his book!
