It's Time - Imagine Dragons  

 

Favorite Line:  I'm never changing who I am.

I love, love, love Imagine Dragons. My best friend and musical soul-sister introduced me to the song, It's Time about a month ago and it has constantly be on repeat ever since. I downloaded the rest of their CD, but It's Time is still my favorite. It's just so much fun. And I love to clap along. I have always been a clapper. I posted a live version below, because, frankly, it's awesome. It makes me love them even more. Those of you who like Walk The Moon's Anna Sun (I am talking to you GINGER) will probably adore this one. In my opinion, they are both up the same infectiously happy alley.

Wait - M83  

Favorite Line:  Send your dreams where nobody hides. Give your tears to the tide.

Oh, I do love my melancholic music. Side note.... When ever I use the world melancholy (or a form of it) I think of this little girl I used to play soccer against named Melon. I don't remember what team she was on or anything. I just remember her family screaming from the sidelines, "Go Melon!" I always found it hilarious. Anyways back to the point and M83. I forget exactly I stumbled upon this one, but isn't it lovely?  The ending is my favorite :)

Godspeed - Jenny Lewis

Favorite Line: Things you don't say reach me somehow anyway

I do love me some Jenny Lewis. I've been a huge Rilo Kiley fan for years. Jenny's solo work is always hit-or-miss for me. The songs I like, I love. But others just do not do it for me. Godspeed is one of my absolute favorites.

I Forget It's There - Lay Low 

Favorite Line: An echo of words you said to me. Repeating and fleeing time and time again.

I love songs that have that sort of haunting, memorizing vibe going. Do you know what I am talking about? I really don't have a name for it. But I know it when I hear it. And I Forget It's There  has it. Whatever "it" is.
 

Phenomena - Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Favorite Line: Don't fall asleep with the motor on, she'll make you sweat in the water

I needed a little pick me up after those last few mellow tunes. So, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Awesome, right? 

Jilted Lovers & Broken Hearts - Brandon Flowers

 

Favorite Line: I need a place to take refuge. See, I've been loving you blind. I guess I made it hard for me to find. That we were caught up in the middle of a Worn out dream. I knew we were in trouble, but baby I almost screamed...

I loved The Killers for years. When I found out that Brandon was putting out a solo release, I just knew it would be amazing. Honestly, I like the whole CD.. but Jilted Lovers & Broken Hearts is my favorite. I don't know what it is about that song... but it just so good.

One Light Wondering - Trent Dabbs

 

Favorite Line: Take your time in the skies - every night out here watching, hoping that you’ll show up late // Won't you stay and play for me? 

I found Trent Dabbs on one of those Ten out of Tenn CD's. Do you know what I am talking about? They are CD mixes that include 10 Artists from Tennessee. One Light Wondering was on one of them and I just fell in love. I've bought more of his music, but One Light  is still my favorite. I am surprised that more people don't know this song -- it's just so gorgeous. I couldn't even find lyrics posted anywhere. It's really a shame.
