Series: Soul Screamers #1
Genre: Young Adult / Fantasy
Buy A Copy: Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Book Depository
Available Formats: Ebook | Paperback
Publication Date: August 1st, 2009
How Did I Get This Book: Library
First Sentence: "Come on!" Emma whispered from my right, her words floating from her mouth in a thin white cloud."
Description:
She doesn't see dead people. She senses when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.

Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest guy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about her need to scream than she does. And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason, only Kaylee knows who'll be next.

First of all,  I know I am incredibly late to this party. I should have started this series ages ago, and I'm probably one of the last people on earth to read it. Which is really a pity, because frankly, it knocked my socks off.

I honestly loved everything about this book. The characters, the plot, the writing - it was all amazing. I honestly haven't been this swept away by a book in a long, long time.  I think a lot of that had to do with the characters. There wasn't a single one that I did not find intriguing. But with a story full of banshees and reapers, how could you not be intrigued?

I found the romance portion of the book to be a bit rushed but still enjoyable. I liked Nash and Kaylee together, it just seemed to come about too quickly. I'm still on the fence about Tod. It seems like Vincent is setting him up to throw a wrench in the dynamic duo  and I don't know exactly how I feel about that. Because the thing is, I adore Tod. I just like Nash too. Well, I guess I'll just have to see how it all pans out.

Like I said before, the plot was dynamite. And the ending? It' definitely a nail biter - a scoot-all-the-way-to-the-edge-of-your-seat kind of ending. My mind was absolutely racing as my eyes devouved the last chapter or so.

If you're like me and have put this series off, please, please go read it. It's insanely good and I cannot wait to get my grubby hands on the next book.

Favorite Quotes
If Eastlake High School were the universe, I would be one of the moons circling Planet Emma, constantly hidden by her shadow, and glad to be there. Nash Hudson would be one of the stars: too bright to look at, too hot to touch and at the center of his own solar system.
No. Whatever I glimpsed was too big to be a rodent - unless we'd stepped into Buttercup's fire swamp - and too indistinct for my shattered focus to settle on.
I was fine with that. The very idea of Death knowing my name made my skin crawl. Even if this particular Death was only one of many, and almost too pretty to look at.
Had I just begged for an audience with Death?
My head spinning, my throat throbbing, I rain into the kitchen. I glanced at the knife rack, then shook my head. I didn't know if I could stop her with one blow. But i could watch the crap out of her.

Trust me, you are not the last person to read this one. I still have yet to start this series.

BUT! I've heard fantastic things about it and def. plan on reading, especially since I hear all the books are out.

Great review, you got me looking forward to them even more!

I just started the series too! I had them on my tbr pile forEVER and they are definitely one of those ones you're smacking yourself for leaving on the shelves for so long! I loved it too and definitely agree about the romance! I never thought of Tod as a potential problem for the couple though! Let's see where the series takes it! Great review!
