Tune in Tuesday: Soundtrack Edition {Vol 1}

Tune in Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Ginger at GReads. It's a fun way to share your favorite music with other bloggers and hopefully introduce them to so truly kickin' tunes :)

I am so excited guys! It is finally time for the soundtrack edition of Tune in TuesdayI may have gone a little overboard this week, but get used to it. I find a lot of my music from television show and movies - it is a great way to find new artists. In case you didn't know, there are two great sites that list songs that are featured on TV - tunefind.com and tvshowmusic.com. I use them both all the time, so if you ever need to look something up, I'd start there!

If It’s The Beaches – The Avett Brothers (Friday Night Lights)

Favorite Line: I will rearrange my plans and change my plans for you

Friday Night  Lights introduced me to the Avett Brothers with this song and now I own all of their albums. I am not sure if If It’s the Beaches  is my favorite track of theirs, but it is definitely near the top of the list.

Hero – Regina Spektor (500 Days of Summer)

Favorite Line: I’m the hero of the story – don’t need to be saved

I LOVE Regina Spektor. I LOVE 500 Days of Summer. I LOVE the music from the movie. Honestly, the soundtrack to movie is one of my most played CD’s off all time. I even love the score. And Hero is just amazing – it’s both heartbreaking and beautiful. I will always think of the scene in the movie when it is played; when Tom goes to Summer’s BBQ and the screen in split between “expectations” and “reality”… oh it just breaks my heart. OH, good news!!! I found that part online! WATCH IT!

Growing Up – Bruce Springsteen (Gracie)

Favorite Line: The flag of piracy flew from my mast, my sails were set wing to wing
I had a jukebox graduate for first mate, she couldn't sail but she sure could sing,

As you may already know, I am a huge fan of Bruce Springsteen. The Boss rules.  When I heard Growing Up while watching Gracie, I instantly fell in love with it. I had never heard the song before, but it really hit me hard. I downloaded it immediately (who else loves google & itunes?) and proceeded to play it over and over. It is now my favorite Springsteen track. Unfortunately,  I could not find MY version on youtube, but I did find an older, live cut of the song. The version I have (the one that was in the movie) can be found on Springsteen’s Greetings From Asbury Park, NJ album.  However, his introduction to the song in the video is absolutely priceless.

Sway - The Perishers (Veronica Mars)

Favorite Line: I don’t want to hurt you, I don’t want to make you sway

Okay. This song is Logan and Veronica. If you are a fan of the show, you know what I mean. Oh, how I miss that show.  I think I need to go watch it… good thing I have all the dvds :)

Sleeping Angel – Stevie Nicks (Fast Times at Ridgemont High)

Favorite Line: I need you because you let me breathe, well you've taken me away,
But never take me lightly, or I could never stay. No I could never stay

I’ve always been a Fleetwood Mac fan, but for some reason I don’t really like a lot of Stevie’s solo work. I mean,  I love Edge of Seventeen, but I just could never get into anything else. Maybe I just never found the right songs. When I first saw Fast Times, this song immediately stood out to me. The entire soundtrack is great, but there is just something about this song. For me, its Stevie’s crowning moment – it’s one of my favorite songs of all time.

Bring it On Home to Me – Sam Cooke (Adventures in Babysitting)

Favorite Line: umm… all of it?

Yes, that’s right. I discovered a Sam Cooke song from Adventures in Babysitting. That’s kind of how I roll. No, seriously that’s a kickass movie. I happen to own it on DVD. Mr. Pruitt? hahahaha. Or Brenda stuck in the Bus station. Good times, my friends. Good times.

Runaway – Yeah Yeah Yeahs (Gossip Girl)

Favorite Line:  all along, not that strong without these open arms, hold on tight.

I don’t watch Gossip Girl anymore, but one thing I really miss is the music. They always feature such wonderful music on that show – they really know what they are doing over there. This was my introduction to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and now I am a huge fan. But, this is still my favorite.

At the Beginning - Richard Marx/Donna Lewis (Anastasia)
Favorite Line: Life is a road  and I want to keep going, Love is a river I want to keep flowing. Life is a road now and forever - Wonderful journey

I love this movie. Oh, it's just so adorable. I will admit it, I watch it on a regular basis. And this song, oh it's pure 90's magic.

That's one of my favourite scenes from 500 Days of Summer. The soundtrack's another fave & I'm planning on playing something from it during the month. :)

I LOVE Bruce Springsteen! Like, with a passion.

Also, I used to be obsessed with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs! Runaway is such an amazing song. Their album 'Show Your Bones' was the first I heard of them & the obsession pretty much began right after listening to it.

Great picks this week! And thanks for telling me about Laugh, I Nearly Died :-)
