Blog Tour // Guest Post & Kindle Giveaway with Stephanie Nelson {Author of Craved}

Today we have Stephanie Nelson stopping by as a part of her Craved book tour! This tour was put together and hosted by Bewitching Book Tours

Since Halloween is right around the corner, I thought I’d share a real life ghost story! The encounter happened to me and it’s one of the reasons why I describe ghosts as being gray figures in my book.

About four years ago my husband worked 2 jobs, one in which was at night, so I was left home alone from 1 in the morning until 6 in the morning. That never bothered me; I’m a pretty tough girl.

Well, on one night I was sleeping and awoke to the sounds of scratching on my bedroom door. I was a little groggy at first as I lay there and listen to the constant scraping sound. After a while, I was fully awake and decided to get out of bed and check it out. I walked over to my door and listened for a little bit. It was like someone was placing their hand in the middle of my door and dragging their nails down the length of it.

To say I was flabbergasted would be an understatement. I just stood there and stared at the door, not sure what to make of it. I turned to go turn on a lamp but I spun back around when the scratching stopped. What I saw will forever be imprinted in my mind as the creepiest and interesting thing I’ve ever seen. A gray figure sat, Indian style, in front of my door, its elbows propped on its knees and its head hung. The figure’s entire body was a mass of gray but light enough that I could make out where the arms, legs, and head were.

I stared for I don’t know how long, fascinated and scared, until I rushed to the lamp and flipped on the lights. Once the lights were on, the ghost was gone. My bedroom has sliding glass doors, and at the time my dog was an outside dog. Well in my state of shock, I rushed out the doors and thought my dog would protect me. (Silly, I know)

My dog is very needy and always wants to be beside you. Well when I went outside, in the middle of January, in nothing but a t-shirt and shorts, my dog remained on the back porch and stared into my bedroom. I went into the garage, thinking that’d help keep the winter wind and snow off of me, and called for my dog. Still, he stayed on the porch and stared into my bedroom and whined.

I stayed in the garage until my husband came home. When I emerged from the garage, my husband looked at me like I was insane and once I told him I’d seen a ghost in our bedroom, his face changed to humorous disbelief. Once I told him everything that had happened, he finally said he believed me.

We’ve lived in our house for eight years and have had numerous encounters with touching and voices, but I have never seen the full figured spirit again. Now, looking back I wished I would have stayed in my bedroom and just watched the thing, but I let my fear consume me instead. I’ve always been a lover of ghosts and hope to have another chance to redeem myself and my courage. It is said that on Halloween, the veil between the living and dead is thin, maybe I’ll get lucky and see my ghost this year!

Gwen Sparks just wants to live a peaceful life in the little town of Flora, but when she reads the headline, she knows peace may be hard to find. She'll have to use her rare power for being able to read the memories of dead to catch the culprit behind the string of murdered witches. Teaming up with the one man who broke her heart, Detective Micah Reynolds, all the while she has to deal with a ghost who pulls her into the deathly realm at any given moment and a sexy but frustrating vampire who not only craves what runs through her veins, he's after her heart.
