Tune in Tuesday: ITUNES Top 25 Most Played

Tune in Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Ginger at GReads. It's a fun way to share your favorite music with other bloggers and hopefully introduce them to so truly kickin' tunes :)

So in anticipation of the upcoming soundtrack selection theme, I've been scouring my itunes picking out my favorite movie/tv/musical related tracks. And... since I was having a hard time selecting a stellar tune for you guys this week, I decided to just post my "Top 25 Most Played" songs - according to my lovely itunes :) So, yes, this is going to be a crazy long post, but whatever, I am furthering your musical education :)

1. Don't Think Twice, It's Alright - Peter, Paul & Mary

Favorite Line: I once loved a woman, a child I’m told. I gave her my heart but she wanted my soul,
But don’t think twice, it’s all right

That's right. The #1 song in my music library is by Peter, Paul & Mary. Granted, this is a Bob Dylan cover. Alright, so I love, love, LOVE this song. I am really not a huge PP&M fan, but there is just something about this song that is just magical. It's simplistic, emotional and haunting. I really prefer it to the Dylan version, because let's be honest folks, homeboy cannot sing. Anyways, if you haven't heard this before, give it a listen. You are going to love it

2. Someone Like You (Live) - Adele

Favorite Line: Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead.

This was instantly my favorite song on her new record and I am really not surprised that it is in my top 25. I adore Adele and the live version... there is just even more feeling in it (if that is even possible).

3. Nice & Easy - The Bridges

Favorite Line: built your tower mighty high, well how am I supposed to reach you? Now you’re just another wall and I want to knock you down.

The Bridges are one of my favorites. They have a really organic sound and super tight harmonies. When they put out their latest EP I snatched it up and instantly fell in love all over again.

4. The Chain - Fleetwood Mac

Favorite Line: damn your love, damn your lies

Choosing my favorite Fleetwood tune would be like choosing my favorite child (if I had any). Thankfully, I don't have to... itunes doesn't lie. Is it wrong to be glad Lindsey and Stevie had such a bipolar relationship?

5. Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits

Favorite Line: They don't give a damn about any trumpet playing band, It ain't what they call rock and roll

Oh, The Dire Straits. I am really not surprised this is so high up on the list either. I am just a little bit obsessed with this one.

6. Rolling in the Deep - Adele

Favorite Line: The scars of your love remind me of us, They keep me thinking that we almost had it all.The scars of your love, they leave me breathless, I can't help feeling, We could have had it all

Honestly, I am a little shocked that this isn’t #1. This was easily my summer song this year.

7. All This Time – Heartless Bastards

Favorite Line: Since you took my breath again, Would you share your oxygen? I can breathe one breath of air -  Intoxicated by your stare

I first heard this on Friday Night Lights – Lyla goes jogging to it… I think. I don’t know. What I do know, is that I love this song.

9. Jungleland – Bruce Springsteen

Favorite Line: The midnight gangs assembled and picked a rendezvous for the night

I love the Boss. To be honest with you, I am really surprised #1-10 aren't all Springsteen songs :)

10. Fix You – Coldplay

Favorite Line: When tears stream down your face, I promise you I will learn from my mistakes

Oh lord almighty I adore this song. I love Coldplay in general, but there is just so much emotion crammed into this one. It makes my heartbreak and swell at the same time. When the guitar kicks in at the end, oh I feel like I am going to burst into tears.

11. Comes & Goes in Waves – Greg Laswell

Favorite Line: This one is for the ones who stand, for the ones who try again. For the ones who need a hand, for the ones who think they can

Greg, Greg, Greg. I love you so. The like most of his stuff, but this album in particular (Three Flights From Alto Nido) is AMAZING. And clearly, Comes & Goes in Waves is my favorite. Again, it’s just so freaking emotional and lovely.

12.  Solider – Ingrid Michaelson

Favorite Line: I took a faith full leap and packed up all my things and all my love and gave it to somebody else

This is one of those songs that I blast in my car and sing at the top of my lungs.

13.  One of these Nights – The Eagles

Favorite Line: I've been searching for the daughter of the devil himself, I've been searching for an angel in white. I've been waiting for a woman who's a little of both and I can feel her but she's nowhere in sight.

My favorite Eagles song has changed probably 20 times. This is, obviously, my current favorite.

14. Goodnight, Goodnight – Maroon 5

favorite Line:  Her hair was pressed against her face; her eyes were red with anger - enraged by things unsaid and empty beds and bad behavior.

I probably have more Maroon 5 songs on my ipod than any other artist. Well, that’s a lie. I bet I have more songs by the Beatles. But coming in right after the Beatles … not too shabby, guys. Not to shabby at all.

15.  Lights – Journey
Favorite Line:  so you think you’re lonely. Well my friend, I’m lonely too.

It’s Journey. I mean, come on. Who doesn’t love Journey.

16.  Something –The Beatles
Favorite Line: You’re asking me, will my love grow. I don’t know, I don’t know.

Look. The Beatles are epic, there is no denying it. And there is just something so right about Something. It’s so simplistic, yet impossibly perfect.

17.  Fly Me To The Moon – Frank Sinatra

Favorite Line: The whole damn enchilada.

Oh my god. How could you not LOVE this. I have a soft spot for big band music and Old Blue Eyes is the cats meow people.

18. The Cave – Mumford & Sons

Favorite Line: So make your siren's call and sing all you want - I will not hear what you have to say. ‘Cause I need freedom now and I need to know how to live my life as it's meant to be.

I love the entire album, but The Cave just really stands out to me. it’s incredibly infectious.

19.  Carry On My Wayward Son - Kansas

Favorite Line:  Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man. Though my mind could think I still was a mad man

I do love my classic rock. P.S. Dust. Wind. Dude. (I know, wrong song, but still.. haha ha.)

20. Backstreet Boys – Shape of my Heart

Favorite Line: looking back on the things I’ve done – I was trying to be someone

I still love Brian. Oh and Kevin. Mmmm. What. You got something to say?

21. Rosi Golan – Come Around

Favorite Line: You feel like breathing.

Her voice is gorgeous, dahling. Gorgeous.

22. Runaround Sue - Dion & The Belmonts
Favorite line: OOOOOOH . hey, hey, ummm-da-day-hey-hey,. I don’t know what they are saying… but its so catchy-hey-hey.

This one makes me think of Sleeping with the Enemy and Brittany Snow. I can explain, I promise. First of all… there is a super cute scene in Sleeping with the Enemy when Ben and Sarah/Laura dance to this. And then, I read an interview with Brittany Snow when she was on American Dreams and she said that this was her favorite song.

23.  Goo Goo Dolls – Here is Gone

Favorite Line: I’ve got my defenses when it comes to your intentions for me. And we wake up in the breakdown of the things we never thought we could be. I’m not the one who broke you, I’m not the one you should fear. We've got to move you darling. I thought I lost you somewhere but you were never really ever there at all

I will always love the Goo Goo Dolls. End of story.

24. Closer to Love – Mat Kearney

Favorite Line: Don’t apologize for all the tears you’ve cried. You’ve been way too strong for all your life.

Yes. Yes. Yes. YES. It’s kind of my jam.

25. Lady Bird – Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazelwood

Favorite Line:  Lightning flashed across the sky the night he taught me how to fly. The sun came up and then I found too soon he let his lady down.

Well, what can I say. Yes, I have a slight obsession with Nancy Sinatra… and I kind of love the Lee Hazelwood duets.
