Guest Post & Giveaway with E. Van Lowe {Author of Boyfriend From Hell}

Today we have the wonderful author E. Van Lowe stopping by to promote his new young adult book, Boyfriend From Hell. This tour was put together by Bewitching Book Tours.

Book covers. We love talking book covers, comparing book covers, doing book cover smackdowns.  They say don’t judge a book by its cover, but let’s face it, we are all susceptible to awesome book covers. One of the reasons I love being with my indy publisher (White Whisker) is I was allowed to be involved in the choosing of my book cover.  That wasn’t the case with Never Slow Dance With A Zombie.  I saw the choices after they chose the book cover.  Fortunately, I liked it.

With White Whisker, however, I received about a dozen design choices via email.  Some I outright hated.  My publisher told me to choose the cover I wanted on the book.   I reached out to the fans, holding a cover contest on four blogs.  We had three choices.  The cover below was one of my favorites.

But it wasn’t one of the fans favorites.  In fact, the fans voted for the current cover hands down.   I always liked the cover, but it seemed odd.  It wasn’t my favorite.  I read over 100 fan comments, and got a good sense of why they chose the current cover.  It was fresh.  It was different.  I would stand out on a bookshelf.

I told my fans they would be the ones to choose the cover.  Even though the current cover wasn’t my favorite at the time, I couldn’t go back on my word.  Now I love the cover.  My fans made a good choice. It definitely makes my little book stand out in a crowd.  I like that.
So now comes the litmus test.  It’s one thing to like the cover, but you guys have to like the book as well. The first four chapters (pdf) of Boyfriend From Hell are available for free on my website. You can go to http://evanlowe.com/  and click on the Boyfriend From Hell Sample link to get it.  I think you will enjoy it.  Peace.

Aww, Hell No!
Fifteen year-old Megan Barnett and her single mom, Suze, have a special relationship—they are friends, close friends, who do almost everything together.
“But come on, guys, she’s my mother… Can I really tell her that while we’re snuggled up on the sofa watching Spider Man Three, I’m secretly undressing James Franco with my eyes?  Of course not…”
The special bond takes a turn for the worse when Suze decides to start dating again.  She hasn’t had a man in her life since Megan’s father left ten years ago.
Enter two mysterious young men, Megan’s new classmate, sinfully attractive bad boy, Guy Matson, and the dangerously handsome art dealer, Armando.  Before long Megan and Suze both wind up in steamy relationships.  But neither of the handsome guys is quite what he seems.  In fact, one of them is Satan, with his sights set on a new bride.  Megan has precious little time to figure out how to stop him.  If she doesn’t, either Megan or Suze are quite literally going to HELL.
Boyfriend From Hell is the first book in the Falling Angels Saga from the author of the gruesomely hilarious, Never Slow Dance With A Zombie

The pink cover probably would not have been my first choice as an author choosing a cover either- but you know what? it works. It's is cute and quirky which gives you the YA vibe and it is something different that will stand out on a shelf.

I like the pink and red cover best...it's an original cover that is completely different to the many many young adult books that are covered with boys...Never heard of this series before, but I've got to read it!
Enjoy life!

I've never judged a book by its cover. But that said, I have to admit that certain kinds of covers seem to call my attention more then others. Both of these covers are great but the book blurb itself really draws me in completely. Thanks for the chance to win this book.
